Who I am

I have always been a Tech guy who didn’t work in Tech! I used my first computer when I was in high school before most people had even seen 1! I used my first workstation in the military when my service was just starting to receive them. I will never forget our 1st IT guy telling me that our hard drive was so large - 250 MB - that we would never need to upgrade or replace it! After serving a few “hitches” in the military I left to pursue my fortune elsewhere.

In my post military schooling I realized that I would not survive without a word processor. So my wife and I invested in 1 of the early models. It even had a floppy drive! It worked for several years until the floppy drive died… I ended up buying my first real computer a “local no brand name” store! I would go on to become a custom computer builder for some years. It was during that time that I became aware of 3 printing. It was still fabulously expensive to own a printer, and even more expensive to print times that no one wanted (at that time everything was a demonstration thing)

I have always had a “creative urge”, however I am not so gifted… can’t do art, can’t sing… I am not musical at all! I found after I began my own 3D printing that not only did I love it, but I was very adept at it. I have been printing for several years on a near - non-stop basis learning all I can - trying to get as perfect at it as possible. I say that but we all know that perfection is impossible… but I will continue to try!

I was asked how my company got its name… I had been 3D printing gifts for my family and friends for several years (you want to know how someone feels - give them a gift they don’t like!) and someone suggested that I needed to do it as a part-time employment. A good friend’s Daughter saw some of my work and exclaimed about it! She asked me what I was going to name my company and I told her that honestly I didn’t have a clue. No matter what I came up with it wasn’t very good. Se went home, and several days later she emailed me “New Craftsmanship” stating that I was taking new Tech and using it to create memories for people. Thus, we had a name. Our Logo features the 1st 3D printer I owned with the company initials on top.
